Pop Up Box Cards

I have become rather obsessed with making these pop up box cards. These cutting files designed by Lori Whitlock seemed to match every person I needed to make a card for last week.  (Seems like a lot of people have October birthdays.)  I purchased these cutting files from the Silhouette Design Store last week when they were having a one-day sale.

I made this thank you card for my brother-in-law who likes owls and also for a sister-in-law.  The both gave us lovely gifts recently.

The mermaid card was perfect for a friend who has aquariums.  I changed the hair color to brown to match my friend’s hair and added some seahorses which she loves.

The golf card was great for my uncle who golfs regularly.  The background sky pattern is one of the basic fill patterns in the Silhouette Studio software.

The beach card was perfect for a friend who likes to go to the beach and the bicycle card was for a friend who likes to bike.

I stocked up on square 5.5 inch envelopes that were on sale at Michael’s yesterday as I plan to make more Z-fold cards.  (I tried making my own envelope first from a sheet of scrapbook paper but my envelope was too tall for the post office and they charged me $1.50 to mail one card a short distance away.)  The cards fold flat for mailing.
