Valentine’s Day care package gifts

Hello.  I have been making small gifts from paper to put in Valentine’s Day care packages I’m sending to my daughter, a college student I’m mentoring and a few other loved ones living out of town.

Tic tac mint holders are one of my favorite things to put in care packages since they are inexpensive, small and cute.  For these Tic Tac holders I used a free svg cutting file  from Simply Crafty svgs.  The box was easy to assemble and I used the heart cut-outs from the front to decorate the backs of the boxes.  The papers I used were “Darling” by crate paper (left) and “My Story” by My Mind’s Eye.

I used this Silhouette cutting file to cut out the pieces for this nail polish holder.  I added a bottle of red nail polish for an easy gift.

This pencil decoration cutting file is by Lori Whitlock.  She offered it as a free file a few weeks ago on her blog.  I used the paper “Story” from Authentique.  I added a Valentine’s Day pencil for a quick gift for a student.

I used a free cutting file from Dreaming Tree to make these cute boxes which I plan to fill with chocolate candies.  Dreaming Tree is also offering a free tootsie pop holder cutting file for Valentine’s Day that I want to try.

For the candy box on the left I used the paper “Story” from Authentique.  For the box on the right I made the cutting file smaller so it would fit on an 8 1/2 by 11 inch sheet of paper.  I then did a “print and cut” using my printer and Silhouette Cameo to cut out the paper pieces.  The paper patterns I used are from “Lucky in Love” by Dani which I downloaded from Snap Click.  I have become a big fan of $1 Wednesday on Snap Click and I usually download a few paper patterns each week.

I have finally gotten my Silhouette Cameo to reliably read the registration marks and cut out the printed designs so I have been doing more print and cut designs. The Cameo registration reading always fails on the first try but usually works the second time after I click on the retry automatically selection. (I have no idea why this happens but at least it is predictable.)  I also have to be sure to line up my cutting mat with the arrows on the left and to have plenty of light shining on the cutting blade area.

I really like the “Lucky in Love” paper patterns and have used them for several projects. For this card I used one of these patterns for the background.  This card was designed by Lori Whitlock.  I have enjoyed making many of the cards from Lori’s series of pop-up box cards.  Lori’s files are color coded and easy to cut and assemble.  The finished card fits nicely in a square envelope.  I don’t recall ever seeing a real hedgehog in person but they look really cute and cuddly on the card.

Tea Dispenser

My yoga teacher is leaving to pursue a career in computers.  She is a very patient  yoga teacher (I’m not flexible or good at balancing) and a nice person so I wanted to make her a going-away gift.  I used paper, a computer printer and a Silhouette Cameo cutting machine to make her a tea bag dispenser.  I personalized the dispenser on the sides with figures doing yoga poses and with her name.

I found the paper flower in my drawer of miscellaneous decorations.  The flower says “Make It Happen.”  You can add tea bags to the dispenser through the top or through the flap on the bottom.

I used Silhouette printable patterns to decorate the dispenser.  I particularly like the pattern with the hot air balloons.  I’m sure I will be using that pattern again.

Supplies used:

Yoga figures 2

Thanks for reading.  I hope you have a beautiful day.

Thanksgiving Treat Boxes

I’ve been making these cute Thanksgiving treat boxes to give to people.  I put a bag of trail mix in the box part.  I cut the box from cardstock on my Silhouette Cameo using designs from My Scrap Chick.  I combined elements from the Thanksgiving and Happy Harvest snack boxes.  This last weekend I went to an estate sale and bought a jar full of gemstones.  So I added some gems to the boxes to add a little razzle dazzle.

Halloween gift box

Halloween box 3 halloween box 2

I have been making Halloween treat boxes using my Silhouette Cameo and the Creepy Crawlers Trio pattern from My Scrap Chick. The paper is from the graphic45 Steampunk Spells Collection. The web was colored with Tim Holz Distress Stain “Wild Honey” and the spider was decorated with Tim Holz Distress Stickles. I plan to fill the boxes with candy and other treats and give to friends and two college students that I mentor.
